In a case heard in the Taihape Magistrate’s Court yesterday, in which the Roman Catholic people claimed exemption from paying rates on their teachers’ residence, owing to some teaching being done therein, the magistrate ruled that the building was not exempt. Mr Arrowsmith represented the Borough and Mr Hussey the Roman Catholic Church.
