To the Editor. •i Sir, —I have been instructed by theExecutive of the Taihape Tradesmen's Association to draw public attentionto a statement made by His Worship, the Mayor at the last meeting of the ■ Taihape Borough Council, on the 19th inst. Tho statement made was, "All shopkeepers swept their shop refuse out into the roads." The Tradesmen take exception to that statement as beinginaccurate and consequently unjust. As the statement was publicly made, and appeared in the Taihape Daily Times on the day following the Council meet- g ing, the Tradesmen's Association Executive publicly give it emphatic denial.. —I am, etc., E.
