APPRECIATION.

Just before the Borough Council adjourned last night, His Worship the Mayor, moved that the Council place on record its appreciation of the services of Mr D. Kirby, while acting as foreman to the Borough, and regret that he t has decided to leave Taihape, and that the same be recorded in the minutes of the Council.

Or. Wrightson seconded, the motion, saying Mr Kirby was one of the most faithful servants the Council has had or ever likely to have. Cr. Healey heartily endorsed this opinion, adding that they were losing a good man through their own fault. The Mayor remarked that when Mr Kirby gets tired of Auckland he hoped he would offer the Taihape Borough Council to come back to them. The motion was carried unanimously. Mr Kirby thanked the Council for their kind remarks, and hoped he w'ould get on as well in Auckland as he had in Taihape. The Mayor on behalf of the Borough Council and himself wished Mr Kirby every success in his new position.
