AMUSEMENTS.

- KING’S THEATRE.

Ethel Clayton is admirably suited to take the .part of the heroine of “The Whims of Society,” showing at the King’s to-night, and she makes the best of \a very dramatic role. The picture presents three grades' of life. The millionaire owner of a ribbon factory;- the fashionable woman who hangs on the, fringe'of the wealthy'Class hoping to replenish her finances, by selling her daughter in marriage to theU millionaire ’s ’ son, or to the millionaire himself; and last and by no-means least, a poor girl who works hard to support. <a young sister. The millionairess son-; first saves her from the insulting ad- -i vancos of an unscrupulous foreman, and then, struck, by her loveliness and personality, befriends her with the result that they fall in love with each other. The misunderstandings which arise from this friendship create some very sensational episodes and in the end the father threatens to disinherit the boy if he persists in his intention of marrying the girl. How he persists and what happened make a very effective conclusion to the story. The picture grips all through. The above star is supported by “The King’s Visit to the Grand Fleet,” in two parts.

EVERYBODY’S.

Two pictures of exceptional merit will be screened this evening at the Town Hall Pictures. Geo. Bcban, cousin of one of our Taihape residents, takes the lead in the "Marecllini Millions.” a real tip top comedy drama, See wdxat can be done by New Zealand on the screen, and screen actors and actresses are needed badly. Perhaps there are some more residents who would like to qualify, the Paramount films hold competitions, as seen in Paramount Gazettes. The other'Teature deals with love and adventure in the tropics and is entitled "A Pearl of Paradise.’ ’ featuring Margarita Fischer who is one of the best actresses in the screen. She has many followers here, and has been seen in several productions.
