Of fifty thousand sacks of Australian wheat landed in Auckland, "over three thousand sacks were rejected by millers on acccoint of weevils. Twenty German civilians, residents of Samoa, have arrived here and been interned on Motuihi, ranking as second class prisoners of war. THE CONSOLIDATED REVENUE. WELLINGTON, Oct 15. Interviewed to-night. Sir Joseph Ward said the consolidated revenue for the six months ending September 30th, 1918, amounted to £7,056,998, • compared with £6,049,858 for the corresponding, period last year. The nee increase was 1,007,140. The expenditure- for the same period amounted to £8.252.781, against £6,485,864 for the corresponding six months last year. The increase of expenditure was thus .£1,766,917. These figures show that the increased expenditure for the first six months of the current financial year exceeded the increased revenue for the same period hy £759,777.
