The official opening of the Taihape Bowling green will be held on Thursday next, at 2 p.m. Coming! The Great Railroad Serial, "The Girl and the Game." Look out for the Engine! Skaters will bo pleased to hear that a big 20 lap race will be held to-night in the Three Stars Theatre. A representative meeting of the Taihape Athletic Club was held last evening. It was decided that a gatnering should be held on New Year's Day, proceeds to be devoted to patriotic purposes. A strong committee has been formed and a meeting to decide what form the gathering will talce is to be held at Mr. A. M. Ryan's orfice next Friday evening, the ISth inst.

A gentleman who has just returned from the Wairarapa states that agricultural prospects down in that district are very bright, The lambing percentages were remarkably good, as weli as being early, and fat lambs are now being sent into the freezing works. Quite record prices have been obtained for some lines of fat sheep, our informant instancing one case where fat ewes brought £2 13s per head

Mr R. iL. Christie, auctioneer, Land and Estate Agent, Ohakune, has received instructions from the Public Trustee to sell a number of building sections in Raetihi and Ohakune,* in the estate of the late M. W. Hoddle, of Raetihi. The sale is to take place in the Drill Hall, Raetihi, on Thursday October 31, and the auctioneer states that it presents an opportunity for profitable investment, the terms being remarkably easy.

Mr J. M. McKenzie, of Taihape, yesterday received the sad news that his younger brother Prank McKenzie, had been killed in action. Gunner F. McKenzie, who was a surveyor by profession, resident in Wellington, joined the 19th Reinforcements, being attached to the New Zealand Artillery, with which he served in France for three years almost without a break. Another brother recently returned from active service, after being seriously wounded.

Miss Vera Eobinson, A.T.C.L., L.A.B. a teacher of the pianoforte, with undoubted qualifications as a teacher, and having' unquestionable credentials as a musician, has commenced teaching in Taihape. Miss Eobinson 5 s name has appeared so frequently as a successful teacher of candidates presenting themselves for examination in connection with Trinity College and the Associated Board that parents can entrust their children with utmost confidence to her teaching. Her address is Warwick Villa, Taihape.

Mr. Graham-Harding has returned from the front, and as he has received quite a number of requests to recommence teaching from residents hereabout, he notifies that on Monday next he will bo prepared to receive pupils for pianoforte and singing at his Studio near the Otaihape Club. His terms are obtainable on application.
