The hockey mathch yesterday between the District High School team and the Huias resulted in a win for the latter by 5 to nil. A very close and interesting match was played between Taumarunui and Ohakune at Taumarunui on Wednesday last. The scores were Taumarunui 8, Ohakune 9. The losers had four men injured during the game. “The returned badge is an honourable distinction/’ remarked Sir James Allen. “We arc always proud when walking through the streets to see men with the /badge. A team of members from the local Golf Club journeyed to Marton yesterday to play a match with the latter Club. The Taihape golfers were successful in winning the match, the scores being, Marton 5, Taihape 6.

A 'telegram was received to-day from Wellington stating that the Full Court reserved judgment in the case of iMerson versus .Eactihi Town Board. This case was heard yesterday, a report of which appeared in our paper.

Prices of beef at the Westfield stock market on Wednesday showed little variation from those ruling last week. Prime ox sold up to £2 15s per 1001 b. and heifer and cow r .beef from £2 5s to £2 11s. Steers nanged from £ls to £23 17s 6d, and cows from £lO 10s to £ls 10s. Prime sheep sold at late values, wethers realising up to £2 4s (id, and ewes up to £2. Spring lambs were easier the best selling from £1 6s to £1 10s. Pigs made last week’s prices.

Voting on the loan proposals took place at Raetihi on Wednesday in connection with the Town Board’s scheme to raise £IOOO to complete the sanitary and drainage scheme. The voting w r as 48 for, and 8 against. Two proposals to borrow £2500 or £ISOO to erect offices and shops were also voted ’upon. The ratepayers rejected the £2500 proposal by 25 for and 30 against. The £ISOO loan was carried by 42 votes to 22.

The Taihape Red Jersey Fund reached a nett total of £l6O 19s 2d, which amount was promptly dispatched to headquarters. The total expenses were £4 2s 9d—advertising £2 17s and postages £1 5s 9d_ In connection with this fund Mrs. Caxdain Batt is responsible for much the greater part of the collecting; .her work from beginning to end has been most successful and praiseworthy. There is no more sincere and honest patriot in this town than Mrs. Captain Batt.
