PRICE OF SEEDY WOOL.
CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND. The question of the treatment of seedy wool under the arrangements by which the Imperial Supplies Department, on behalf of the Imperial Government, has requisitioned the wool clips of New Zealand for the last three years, was discussed at a conference held in the Chamber of Commerce between the woolgrowers of the Auckland district and the representatives of the Imperial Supplies Department. Mr. W. S. Bennett, president of the New Zealand Woolbrokers ’ Association, presided, and most of the provincial branches of the Farmers’ Union were represented. Mr. T. R. Lees w'hs present as officer in 'charge of the wool section of the Imperial Supplies Department, and Mr, Walter Hill as chief supervising wool vainer. The claim of those growers whose clips contain a considerable proportion of wool affected by the piripiri. or hutiwai seed that they had suffered injustice in the price allotted by the valuers to their product, was discussed at great length, and from various points of view. Eventually a resoluwas moved by Mr Jas. Boddie and seconded by Mr. W. O’Donnell, repre- 1 senting the Awaroa branch of the Farmers’ Union, was carried, affirming that the evidence in the possession of a very large number of farmers, i.e., to the effect that seedy wool has not realised prices in accordance with the spirit of the agreement arrived at between the Government and the representatives of the wool-grow-ers, and requesting the Government to inquire fully in the matter, with a view to securing prices for seedy wool more in conformity with the spirit and letter of the agreement.
