THE LINSEED OIL INDUSTRY.

With truckload after truckload of Sydney seed pouring in, the linseed oil mills of Meggitt Ltd. wore a busy appearance recently, when a large party (members of the Institute of Architects) paid a visit of inspection. They were welcomed by the chairman of directors, and shown over the works. Afterwards, the exJPresident of the Institute on behalf of the visitors, tendered his thanks to the directorate for the courtesy shown, them. The visit of inspection had been a revelation to them. He was glad to see that Australia was developing manufacture, and Meggitt’s was a splendid instance. It was raised absolutely on Australian capital also, put in by men who were brave enough, in spite of four years of continued losses to persevere till they had built up a great Australian industry. which was now proving of benefit to many other industries.. He congratulated them on their ultimate success. He had been assured that the company, with its enlarged area and now buildings would have enough accommodation for some time to come, but judging from what he had seen he was quite confident that in Meggitt iLtd’s they got the genuine thing, and it was a great help to the architects to -know this when drawing up their speci-

fications. He concluded by referring to the extreme cleanliness and care which was exercised in the work of production at the mill. The Chairman thanked Mr Anderson for his congratulatory expressions, and assured the visitors that the company’s aim was to live up to its good name, and, infact, to improve it if possible. They had now a chemist constantly at work with this end in view, and w r hen they put Australian oil in their specifications, they could rely upon getting, what they specified.
