RED CROSS EFFORT ON LABOUR DAY.

On Labour Day, 2Sth October, the Otaihape Club will make a big effort on behalf of the Eed Cross Copper Trail. That day promises to be one of Taihape's Red Letter Days.. Proceedings will commence with a monster procession, followed by sports on the Recreation Ground, to be followed in the evening by the big Revue in the Town Hall amongst the special items of interest on the Sports programme are a Five Aside Ladies' Hockey, tournament and a seven aside Football Tournament. The prizes for the Ladies' Hockey team will be a medal each donated by Mr Geo. IWrightson, whilst Mr P. Baird has donated £5 towards purchasing the prizes for the winners of the Football Seven Aside, These two events will be keenly contested and the hockey teams commence five aside practice this week and no doubt the others will follow suit. Four teams are required for the hockey, and eight are expected in the football, including one each from Ohakune and Raetihi. The Railway team, winners of the last seven aside tournament, are keeping in training, and hope to Tetain their laurels. In addition to the above events there will be two motor car events, (musical ehairs and titling at the ring) also a tug-of-war contest, besides other interesting items to be announced later. !
