TAIHAPK SALE. Messrs Abraham and Williams report as follows: — A small yarding of both cattle and sheep were at Wednesday’s fortnightly sale, the bulk of the entry in the sheepyards comprising hoggets, which met with very keen demand and a total clear* ance. We again succeeded in topping the market with a very nice line of hoggets on account of Mr. H. Belk, Utiku. which made a record price for the Taihape yards this season, viz., 209 wether hoggets at 32/10, 91 ewe hoggets at 31/8. WESTFIELD MARKET. Prices of beef were easier at the Westfield Stock Market on Wednesday Prime ox sold up to £2 los per 1001 b. and ordinary up to £2 14s. Cow and heifer beef sold up to £2 11s per 100 lb. Steers realised ’up to £24 7s 6d, and cows and heifers up to £l6 7s 6d. Prime sheep sold at late values. Prime wethers sold up to £2 9s, and ewes up to £3. Spring lambs made extreme pricesnip to £1 14s 9d. Large choppers and baeoners realised up to £S 10s, heavy baeoners to £7 Ss 6d and porkers to £4 17s 6d. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.

The supply of fat stock to the market has been fairly well maintained in Auckland during the winter, though at times the meat requisitioned for Imperial supply has been drawn on tcy meet the butchers’ demands. Hitherto the requisitioned stocks have been available for local requirements at schedule rates, with no extra charge for storage, as the works of both the Farmers ’ Freezing Company and the' Westfield Freezing Company, from which the requisitioned meat is obtained, have been in operation, and were able to supply fresh meat without having to draw On the accumulated' stock. From next month, however, all meat required from the freezing companies for local consumption will have to be drawn from the supplies held in cold storage, on which eharegs have accumulated. There is no likelihood of this causing any alteration in the prices paid by the consumer, as the -quantity taken from the stores is only a small percentage of the total supply.
