Mr C. Grayndler, secretary of the Agricultural and Pastoral Union of Workers, says tie prospects of a sufficient supply of shearers for the ensuing season were not bright. He had been looking over the names of the 4533 reservists just called up and cquld discover only three shearers' names. At the time there were between 80 and 100 farmers on the ballot list. This argued a serious shortage in the number of shearers required to do the most important work in the wool industry and would not tend-jfco reduce the anxiety of the sheep-owners as to how their sheep were to be shorn.
