VALEDICTORY.
A very pleasing and enjoyable social was held ut Moawhango on Saturday evening last, to bid good-bye to Miss Stares, -who is leaving Moawliango after being fifteen months in charge of the Post Office there. All the residents in the township and from nearby were present. Mr Cornford, during the evening, on behalf of the Moawhango people presented Miss Stares with a beautiful gold wristlet watch and a handsome travelling bag, at the same time voicing the appreciation of and esteem felt by all those who had come in contact with Miss Stares during her residence among them, and expressing regret at losing her. He wished her every success in the future. Miss Stares briefly responded, thanking the donors for their handsome presents, and for the kindly sentiments expressed. She would always look back with pleasure to her residence among the kindly people of Moawhango. Dancing ivas then indulged in during the remainder of the evening to the excellent music provided by Mr. Chase assisted by Miss Stares and Mr Troye. Miss Stares left Moawhango yesterday. ,
