IS PEARL MAKING DOOMED?
A very profitable, if strange, industry is to disappear froi Paris, following the condemnation of its principals. Pearls of inferior quality, were, after being subjected to a secret process made to appear WortßTmany times their actual value. Thus a certain merchant, having purchased a mediocre specimen for 88,766 francs, took it to the pearl faker, the result being that it was eventually sold for 260,00 r francs.
