INVITATION FOR PEACE WANTED BY INDEPENDENT SOCIALISTS Received 8.55 a.m. ■> AMSTERDAM, September 15. Independent Socialists have introduced ;a motion in Berlin City Council requesting an invitation for a peace discussion owing to daily increasing distress and the reduction of the entire standard of living, increasing criminality and increasing death rate. PEACE MAY BE NEARER THAN EXPECTED, Receibed 8.40 a.m. - AMSTERDAM, Sept 15. Hertling told the Trade Union leaders the war would not last a moment longer than was absolutely necessary for Germany’s defence. He confident ly hoped they were nearer a peace than was generally believed. Dr. Erzeberger told an interviewer | it was possible the longed for peace would come in a short time.
