THE GREY ELECTION. DECISION AGAINST PETITIONER. GREYMOUH, September 13 Their Honours Mr Justice Chapman and Mr Justice Sim delivered judgment this morning on points referred to them in the election petition of Thomas Eldon Codtes, candidiate in the recent by-election, against the return of Henry Edward Holland. Their Honours decided against petitioner on two vital issues that certain votes were valid.
Mr Hannan said petitioner did not intend pursuing the action further, as the bulk of the...votes .challenged were covered by the issues decided against petitioner'. Mr,,' Holland ’g majority > could be greatly, reduced by 27 cases in which plural voting was alleged, but having failed on the main issues the petitoner had no hope of success. Their Honours granted costs as allowed by the Act, and left them to the registrar to be fixed.
A MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT mb’ j. henrys killed. MASTERTON, this day. Mgi/jJV,Henrys, handicapper, and C. Lamb were, driving near Eketahuna yesterday in a motor car, which fell over the embankment of forty feet, Both were seriously injured, and brought to Masterton hospital, where Mr Henrys died late last night. Mr Lamb has a broken arm.
