FOOD SHORTAGE IN GERMANY. WORKING CLASS ON RATIONS. Received 11.45 a.m. COPENHAGEN, Sept 11. The leading Gorman Socialists and Trade Unionists, in a memorandum to the Chancellor, draw attention to the growing dissatisfaction prevalent owing to the insufficiency of food, causing a critical situation. The workers and middle class are unable to afford the most necessary food, and bodily exhaustion has caused an increase in mortality among children and the aged. The potato ration, reduced to seven pounds weekly, is quite insufficient, as the meat rations are also reduced.
