The folowing will represent the Pirate seniors in their match againa* Rangitikei at Hunterville on Saturday, 7th inst.:—Eaton, Sinclair, Chase, Tau, Connolly, Tuikau, W. Pine, Bertnett, Stoney, Wilson, Whake, Campbell, Munro, Murphy, Kelly. Emergencies: Kingi, McGoAvan The team will leave at 10.20 a.m. and return at 5.15 p.m. Any of the above players not able to travel requested to notify the selectors as soon as possible.
RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL. THE MODIFIED RULES. WELLINGTON, this day. The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union held a meeting and reaffirmed its determination to uphold the constitution. It was pointed out that the modified ruleshad been freely played in Cup games, and by other unions, and no notice take'of it; also that three of the proposed new rules needed no permission. The English union had never recognised the wing forwards. One member considered there was more underlying this sudden agitation than appeared on the surface.
