THE WANGANUI DISTRICT. The half-yearly meeting of the Management Committee was held in the Coronation Hall, Marton, on the 29th. Present: Prov. G. M. Bro. W. D, Harris (Wanganul), in the chair, D.G.M. Bro. W. B. Duthie (Bunnythorpe), Bros, E. Liddle (Wanganui), H. Sharman (Palmerston N.), S. E. Barltrop (Feilding), T. Moran (Ohakune). The following were also in attendance: Bros. G. H. Espiner (book examiner, (Bunnythorpe), S. J. Watson (Palmerston), H. C. Patterson (Foxton), T. Ireland (Ohakunc), P. W. Anderson (Bunnythorpe), H. X Murrell, (Taihape), S. H. Gould Raetihi), and R. A. Campbell (Hunterville.) The annual meeting in February next was fixed for Marton.

The question of remitting moneys from one lodge to another by post office orders free of duty was introduced by Bro. Barltrop, and it was decided that the Prov. C.S. should enquire into the question. Whether honorary members should be allowed to contribute for medical aid benefits was considered at length and the question was held over until the next District Meeting.

Copies of the new ritual, to apply to all lodges, w-erc received, and a copy handed to each lodge. This will come into operation in all lodges, as from present date.

The mode of providing for the benefits of soldier members Was discussed at length.

Bro. Sharman moved, and Bro. Barltrop seconded: That a separate account be kept by each lodge of the contributions paid by menrjers on behalf of the soldier members, and the payments to the district.

On the motion of Bros. Sharman and Moran, the following resolution was carried: That Rule 23a be amended by the addition of the following clause: (10) In order to qualify a war member to have his sick and funeral fund contributions paid out of this fund he must go on active service outside of New Zealand; the payment shall then be ante-dated to the date he entered the active service division of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces. No home service member shall be entitled to the payment of his contributions while on home service. A return of the members on active service was shown as follows: Wanganui 29, Palmcrston 15, Ohakune 13, Hiuitcrville- 4, Kimbolton 2, Apiti, 13, Taihapc 1, Fcilding 7, Bunnythorpe 4, Mangaweka 6, Foxton 3, Raetihi S; total 105. ••- ■•—:--■

The . claims - for sick pay on behalf of the soldier-members from the New Zealand branch amounted to £3361 14s 4d. Bro. Espiner gave an interesting address to the lodge secretaries on bookkeeping, making a number of suggestions in the oiircetion of improving the systems. A hcarty.Peofe.bf thanks was accorded to Bro.
