A SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING lof -Members of the Taihape and District Patriotic Society will be held in the Town Hall Supper-Room, on THURSDAY, August 29th, at 8 p.m. to consider, and if thought fit, to adopt the following alterations to the rules, viz: By adding to the objects. To raise and expend funds for general war or relief purposes, or for objects connected with, incidental to, or arising out of the present war, and for general patriotic purposes, in such manner as the Society may from time to time determine, provided that all monies raised for a specific purpose shall be expended oniy for that purpose. By deleting Clause 3 and substituting the following: The members of the Society shall consist of all persons being British subjects, who, during each financial year of the Society] shall contribute not less than fivS shillings in one sum, for the uncondi* tional use of the Society,- Every per* son so contributing shall be entitled to enrolment as a member and shall on application to the Secretary receive a membership ticket, on production of which such person shall be entitled to attend and vote at any General Meeting of the Society as a member thereof. Every elector should know that, in asking that all should sign its Monster Petition asking Parliament to grant a poll on the National Efficiency Board's Ecport in favour of immediate National Prohibition, the New Zealand Alliance has made it clear that provision must be m,ade to take the vote of our soldiers on the question. The Alliance holds that, no one has so good a right as the man in khaki to decide the questionr-ancl it holds it essential that together with the folks at home, the men fighting for us should be given an opportunity of deciding the matter.
