' I RECAPTURE OF EERAT. CLAIMED BY AUSTRIA. LONDON, August 27. An Austrian official report states: In Albania we recaptured Fieri and Berat, on the Semeni River, in middle Albania. LONDON, August 27. A French communique states: There was great artillery activity on both banks of the V,ardar, Albania. The Austrians attacked the French and Italians twice in the region of the confluence of the Devoli and Tomorica Rivers. The French repulsed both assaults, but subsequently slightly withdrew their left wing in order to maintain contact with the Italians. IN GERMANY. CONQUER OR PERISH. ROME, August 27. It is reported from Vienna that the Central Powers, at the recent conference at German Headquarters, agreed that peace overtures were useless aecvompanied by an admission of defeat. The Kaiser and the Emperor Karl decided not to concede anything, but to conquer or perish together.
