EUROPE'S NEEDS. AMERICA MUST ECONOMISE. NEW YORK, August 25. Mr. H. C. Hoover (Food Controller) has returned from Europe. He announced that the food situation in Europe is excellent. There will be no hardship, but economy in the United States is essential. He declared that the harvests in France, England and Italy were remarkably good, in view of the drain on the man power. The crop successes were due entirely to women. The total food supplies whica must be imported into Europe for the year beginning September : include 500,000,000 bushels of Cereals, 000,0001 b of- fats, and 1,500,0001 b of it will be necessary forvEurop* fo import beef and oats f§r>th~e Ar<£y'fr"use.
