KING’S THEATRE. Can a woman blot out an accusing past by means of good deeds? This is a question raised and answered in. “The Waiting Soul,” a pnoto-drama of the most poweYl’ul moral stimulus, featuring Madame Petrova. The subject has been handled in an admirable manner and is interpreted by a cast of exceptional "excellence. Mahon Hamilton is Petrova’s leading man and Mrs. Mathilde Brundage, one of the best known “mothers” of the screen, takes the part of Airs. Brinsley. Madame Petrova appears as Grace Vaughan, who falls in love with Dudley Kent, a married man. A sensational divorce follows, after which Kent and Grace leave for England. Tfiey meet John Hargrove, a lecturer, and his wife, Mrs. Hargrove, recognising Grace, tries to befriend her, realising that the girl is certain to meet with sorrow, hut Grace does not accept her kindnes in the spirit in which it is offered. The supports include two comedies, Gazette, part 5 of rAs Beach’s Travels. ENGLISH PIERROTS. The English Pierrots, under the direction of Will and Sob Thomas, will make their appearance at Taihape on . Saturday next at the Town Hall, having just completed a twenty weeks* seson in Adelaide, and six weeks in Sydney, success meeting their efforts in both cities, where press reports agree on the fact that the English Pierrot entertainments are far above the average, special mention havyig been made on the excellent programmes presented by this sprightly and versatile combination of Pierrots and Pierettes. Miss Elsa Langley, the charming comedienne, and Miss Billie Wilson, will again endeavour to raise the audience to shrieks of laughter and hilarity—and refresh patron*. memories of the happy hours enjoyed on the previous visit? of this talented company. There, are only two changes in the personnel of ( the company since last season—Miss Elsie Rosslyn, soprano ,and Miss Rima Young, at the piano. Miss Elsa Langley is stil the comedienne of the company, and recollections of her pre. vious artistic and dainty items will no doubt be recalled with pleasure. Messrs W, P. Turner and' Charles ;Laurence are responsible for the 1 clever comedy and burlesque. Mr Cooke basso, will be remembered by his fine voice, which gained him so much pxa.’se. Mr. David Llye, the possessor .of a; very fine tenor voice, will- be heard to advantage in varied selections. Leslie Austin, light comedian, and Louis Mitchell, baritone, complete the list of artists. Referring to a previous visit of this clever Combination, the “Dominion,” says; “The’ English. Pierrot entertainment is clean, clever, and refreshing, whilst each member has his or her own particular forte, the ensemble, singing and dancing, and sketch work was bright and amazingly clever.” They have carved out for themselves in this line of entertainment by always keeping their items up to a certain standard, and providing plenty of clean fun, judiciously intermingled with smart songs and vocalised harmony.
