KING’S THEATRE. The star picture shown last night “I Will Repay,” will bo shown for the last time to-night, and is something above the average. The Copper Industry is without doubt one of the’ most interesting educational pictures that has been shown here. This picture is w T ell worth a visit to-night. The Gaumont Graphic: is an interesting one. To-morrow night that supreme ac- , tress Olga Petrova will appear in her latest “The Waiting Soul,” a great moral drama. The management has secured for Saturday the official picture of the Russian Revolution, which is a true production and taken by permission of Kerensky. EVERYBODY’S. The star picture to-night, “Are You a Mason?” gives a splendid opportunity tt> John Barrymore to show off the great powers as a comedian he undoubtedly possesses. He portrays the character of. Prank Perry, a dashing young married man of exuberant spirits and vivid imagination. .When his wife announces that her chief desire in life is to have aim become a Mason, Perry grasps the opportunity it affords for staying out several nights, explaining his numerous absences from home by the logical statement that he is spending his evenings at the iMasonic Lodge, undergoing the ordeals of initiation. One night wifie delightedly announces that her father. Grand Master of the Masons, is ■ coming to visit them, Perry’s agonised efforts to keep his father-in-law from discovering his deception, and the fearful tangles in which he becomes involved thereby, ’culminating in a situation which is one of the funniest climaxes ever conceived, furnish the humour of the farce, which is further heightened by the fact that the “grand master” has also deceived his family, is not a Mason, and is constantly manufacturing other deceptions to safeguard his first falsehood. How he is finally caught and cornered by his clever son-in-law, who emerges victoriously from the chaos he has created, ends the comedy in a roaringly laughable manner. Sweets will be sold during the evening by a baud of young girls. ENGLISH PIERROTS. The clever musical combination — the English Pierrots —who have toured the Dominion on several occasions, are announced to visit Taihape, and will make their appearance at the Town Hall on Saturday next. The English Pierrots are not only decidedly musical, and gifted with bright and breezy humour which is most infectious, but each member has the happy faculty of co-operating with his fellow in such a manner that the harmonious effect gained, is entirely • There is fun —clean and wholesome — which may be taken as a reason for the hall-mark of popularity on the organisation. The repertoire of the Pierrots is most extensive, and many of the features have been written by the members of the company—of which there are ten performers, comprising singers, raconteurs, and comedians who have drawn largely from tl/e world’s supplies for their almost endless repertoire. A glance at the artists’ names (which apear in the advertisement on our front page) should convince intending patrons of the excellence and versatility of the entertainment. Notwithstanding these times of stress and strain, music, mirth, and merriment are a necessity, and the Pierrots are doing something to drive dull care away. Fun and frolic and quaint concerted singing are included in every programme—and never slackens for two hours, being a continuous delight. The voices of the English Pierrots have created the most favourable comment. Although the work of the company is mostly humorous, the vocal standard has been kept up to a high level, so that in the humorous concerted work it is not only the lighter vein -which is touched, but the musical taste is appealed to as well. Each artist is on the very best terms with each other artist, and this happy family atmosphere is felt by all. Box plan is now open at Swedlund’s.
