ON THE SEA.
OLD FRENCH CRUISER TORPEDOED. Received 8.50 a.m. PARIS, August 18. The old French cruiser Dupetit Thouars, which was cc-operating with a naval patrol in the Atlantic, was torpedoed on the 7th. An American torpedocr rescued the crew, thirteen of whom are missing. BRITISH DESTROYERS SUNK. Received 10.30 a.m. LONDON. August 18. Admiralty official: Two British destroyers struck mines on the 14th inst. Twenty-six men are missing. It is presumed they were killed by the ex- ' plosion. Another man tdied ioif 1 wounds. THE NAVY AIRMEN, LONDON, August 17. ■ The Admiralty reports that between the Bth and the 15th August, our air« forces dropped sixty tons of bombs on the Zeebruggc and Ostend docks, the Varassenaero aerodrome; La Brugcoise works, Bruges docks, Blankenbergh, and Middlekerke, and also on many enemy batteries and billets. As a result of the attack, we fired six aeroplanes and hangars. We hit two Gotha hangars, one of which was demolished. Wc also fired large petrol dumps. We successfully attacked enemy shipping directly hitting a destroyer. A big explosion was observed. Later wc destroyed sixteen aeroplanes and drove down fifteen. Three British have not returned. I
