RED JERSEY APPEAL.
To the Editor. 1‘ Sir,—lt was with considerable surprise that I read your sub-leader on this subject in your issue of Friday last, until I remembered that you had been absent from Taihape for some time. In reply to your strictures and -because other parts of the Dominion might, if they read them, believe them to be deserved, I have pleasure in informing you that a public meeting has been held, a committee set up and ‘already certain ways‘ of coaxing the public to provide funds have been devised, and some are in active operation. However, your -article is Welcome; if only for the reason that it will excite wonder and comment that an omniscient editor can be so utterly. ignorant of what is beingdone inhis‘ owntown.-—I am, etc., I ‘ A. L_ ARROWSMITH, A 4 Chairman {Local Committee. (It is a little early yet for any ‘com-. ment upon that which our correspondentstates is being done in ‘connection with the Red Jersey Appeal.—Ed., “‘Daily Times.”)' -
