COBRA ON GOLF LINKS. KILLED WITH MASHIE AFTER ATTACKING PLAYERS. Rangoon. While Lieut.-Colonel Obbard, the Commissioner of Pegu, and Major Williams, of the Rangoon Battalion, Military Police, were golfing at Nungaladon, near Rangoon, they saw a large snake at a short distance in front of them. Major William went forward to se what kind it was, when it moved to attack him. He then saw it was a Hamadryad, or king cobra, and he jumped as it struck. It missed him hut returned to the attack, whereupon Colonel Obbard went to Major "sTTiliams' assistance. The snake turned, struck at him, and bit the leg of his trousers.
