Mr W. , Proudfoot, Liberal Leader of the Ontario Legislature, says:—"Retail merchants and butchers are quite strong in their statements that men who previously were in he habit of letting their accounts run, and from Avhom it was only with the greatest difficulty they were able to secure payment, now pay regularly without even I being dunned." This phase of matters represents a very valid reason why the Alliance Monster Petition for ' the abolition of the drink traffic in New Zealand should receive the support of tradespeople.
