sunken French liners. , • ' TWENTY LIVES ' LOST. PARIS, August 14. The steamer Djemnah was sunk by a submarine on July 14, and the Australian was torpedoed on July 19. She foundered after burning. Seventeen of the crew were killed and three passengers missing, while 948 were saved. Both the Djemnah and Australian were convoyed. Another ship was torpedoed with the Australian, but was not sunk. AMERICAN SCHOONER SUNK. Received 9.15 a.m. NEW YORK, 15. An American schooner was shelled and sunk by a submarine in American waters. The crew escaped.
