PLOT TO KILL LENIN. WASHINGTON, August 7. Swedish, reports reveal a plot to kill Trotzky and Lenin. Both are closelyguarded when they move abroad. The Bolsheviks have suspended private communication between Russia and Britain. OPERATIONS OF CZECHOSLOVAKS. FIRM FRIENDS OP THE ALLIES. INTERVIEW WITH AN OFFICER. A Czecho-Slovak officer, who has arrived in London from the Murman coast, in an interview, said: 'Austria mobilised us at the outbreak war and detailed us to fight on the Carpathian front. Three hundred of our men and six officers In January, 1915 walked over to the Russian lines and became prisoners before they had seen any fighting. Several hundred thousand later followed their example. All are firm friends of the Entente. The vast majority are still in arms in Russian Siberia, and fought with Russia until the Bolsheviks made peace with Germany. We felt that after the treaty was signed there was no longer any chance of the Czecho-Slovaks obtaining national independence, and refused to lay down their arms when Bolsheviks ordered us. DEFEATED BY RED GUARDS. Received 11.35 a.m. ARCHANGEL, August 8. Bolshevik reinforcements have arrived at Esayoyorke, the next station to Archangel. The White Guards attacked and drove them out, prisonering many. There are anti-Bolshevik revolutions in several districts within a radius of two hundred miles of Archangel. Despite German assertions to the contrary, it is officially stated that the Ukraine railway strike remains serious. There is considerable sabotage. ALLIED TROOPS FOR SIBERIA. Received 11 a.m, WASHINGTON, August 8. It is announced that Major-General Graves, former Assistant Chief of the General Staff, will command the American Expeditionary Force in Siberia, which will be composed of two regiments of infantry from the Philllppines and other troops, totalling seven ! thousand. Japan will send a similar number. The New York Times’ Shanghai correspondent states that British troops have landed at Vladivostock, and have met with a friendly reception. ; THE CZECHO-SLOVAKS GERMANS DEFEATED IN UKRAINE FIGHTING. WASHINGTON, Aug. 8. Captain Huryan reporting to the Czecho-Slovak National Council here, states that the Czechs defeated the Gorgmns in the Ukraine fighting. After the Brest Litovsk treaty was signed the Austrian Emperor offered them an amnesty, but they refused to surrender. After escaping from Ukraine they at first maintained friendly relations with the Bolsheviks, but later were compelled to fight them. At
Irkutsk thousands of Bolsheviks surrounded a Czech train, firing machine-o-uns. Four hundred Czechs leaped from the train and put the entire B'olsheviks’ force to flight.
