.WELLINGTON, August 5. Recently the Minister of Defence cabled the Imperial authorities, asking whether enemy alien, civilians interned in the United Kingdom were compelled to do work of any Kind except that of the cleaning of their rooms and ordinary fatigues. The reply is that such internees are not obliged to do any work other than fatigue duty connected with camps, either for health reasons or otherwise.
