GOVERNMENT TAKES FIRM MEASURES.
LONDON, July 27. The Press Bureau states: Mr Lloyd I George has .announced, on behalf of the Government: Certain munition workers, disregarding their duly accredited leaders, ceased work, not in pufeuance with a trade dispute, but in a n endeavour to force the Government to change the national policy essential to the prosecution of the war," whilst millions of their fellow-coun-trymen are hourly facing danger and death for their joountry. The men now on strike were granted exemption only because their services were considered of more value in the workshops than in the army. It is now necessary to declare all wilfully absent from work on the 29th to be deemed voluntarily placing themselves outside the munitions industries. Their protection certificates cease on that date, and they will be liable to the provisions of the Military Service Act.
