THOUSANDS OF DESERTIONS FROM AUSTRIAN ARMY. NEW YORK, July 28. The New York Times Paris pondent states that reliable information shows that thousands of Slovens, Croats, and Jugoslavs are deserting from the Austrian armies and living in. the mountains. The Austrian military authorities do not dare to take drastic measures to prevent desertion for fear that open revolt would follow. HUN DRIVE IN ITALY PROBABLE. Received 3.55 a.m. NEW YORK, July 29. ' Mr. Grasty, in the New York Times says there is much talk in London of the possibility of a new Austro-Ger-man drive in Italy means of escape from an unpleasant dilemma on the West front. It is reported that the movement of six German divisions from France to Italy indicates serious designs.
