AMERICA'S SUGAR RATION. WASHINGTON, July 26. Th sugar ration in America has'. been reduced to two pounds a month, each person to be effective from August 1. The purpose is to assure a sufficient supply for the Allies and the armies in the field. It is officially announced that more than 50 millionpounds of sugar were lost by submarine sinkings off the American coast. AMERICA BREAKS WORLD'S RECORD IN SHIPBUILDING. Received 10.20 a.m. "WASHINGTON, July 28. A steel ship of 3500 tons was launched on the Great Lakes fourteen days after the keel was laid, breaking the world's record.
