BUTTER PRODUCERS.

PROPOSED EQUALISATION FUND.

WELLINGTON, July 24

A conference was held yesterday and to-day between representatives of butter-makers and the Ministers of Agriculture and Imperial Supplies, with reference to the proposed equalisation fund for butter producers. Mr. A. Morton, chairman of the Dominion Butter Committee, states that an equalisation fund is now in a fair way to be established, whereby producers who have exported and those supply, ing the local market will participate. It is expected that finality will shortly be reached. Mr. Morton points out that the contract with the Imperial Government for the sale of export butter expires on the 31st July, and the subsequent arrangements will be subject to the establishment of the equalisation fund, which Mr. Morton says should dispel any anxiety as to local prices for butter not being maintained at the present rate.
