KING'S THEATRE.
There will he a three-star picture programme at the King's Theatre tonight, headed by "The Mother .Instinct." Enid Bennett, in a role of exceptional strength, is, the leading star. The supporting cast i? strong, including Margery Wilson and Jack Gilbert. The story opens with a wonderful screen picturisation of a terrific storm, and there we meet the dainty Enid as an artist's model in Paris. The scenes showing the student life of Paris are very seductive, noticeably the picturesque novelty of the carnival. Into this gay life comes the mother of the little model, to find her nursing a nameless babe, of which she seems innocently proud. Then arrives'further tragedy, as the son left at home is accused of the murder of a fisherman, whom he has often vowed to kill. 'ln an intensely dramatic climax, the truth comes out, and the heroine's sister confesses to the murder of the man who had ibetrayed her. The story is one of the most engrossing ever put on the screen, and is full of surprise turns for even the most constant picture-goer. The second star is a most amusing Keystone comedy, and the third feature is a further instalment of the "Secret Kingdom." There will also be shown a Graphic, scenic, etc. EVERYBODY'S. A double "Star programme will be presented at the Town Hall this evening. Pauline Frederick undoubtedly the greatest emotional actress on the screen, appears in a Famous Players production entitled "Double Crossed," In this production she plays the part of a society matron, dead in love with her husband, for whom she sacrifices her honour and position to j save him. from disgrace. "Double , Crossed" is a powerful story that is in I many respects parallel to "The Cheat," which was specially written for Fannie Ward and Sessue Hayakawa. "Double Crossed" was prepared to give the best possible opportunity to Miss Pauline Frederick, and this' well-known actress has taken the utmost possible advantage of the conditions. Plot, scenery and general photography arc all in order,, and it is anticipated with confidence- that the film will rise to the hghest standard attained by the Paramount people. The second star item on the programme is the great Western picture 'Dare-Devil Kate" featuring Virginia Pearson. .'
