ON THE BRITISH FRONT.
SUCCESSFUL RAID B'Y NEW ZEALANDERS. LONDON, July 1(5. Sir Douglas Haig reports: The New Zealanders made a successful raid in the neighbourhood of Hebuterne. They prisonered over 30, and took twelve machine-guns. We slightly imprved our line i n the Villers-Brettoncux sector after sharp fighting. Hostile artillery is active south-west-ward of Albert, and somewhat active at different points of the northern British front.

CONFIDENCE OF FOCH AND FRENCH ARMY. LONDON, July IG. The Times correspondent says:—We ■arc witnessing the beginning of an enterprise which will ultimately surpass in magnitude the previous greatest battles. Presumably the enemy hopes to reach an effective bombarding range of Paris. We are convinced that Foch and the French Army will effectively counter the menace.
