AMERICA’S NATIONAL, FLAG AND ANTEHEM.
(To the,Editor), Sir—Having teen requested by several persons I in.Taihap^tp publish, the American, .National Anthem, and . also to- describe,.the Stars, and Stripes in the American Flag .and their representation, I respectfully, ask you to .insert the same ip, your;; valuable paper, to infprm,those- interested in the same:— The American Flag has thirteen ■ stripes, representing the first colonies England had formed into States. There are now instead of stripes a star foxeach colony or state, set off in theixp- i pex* right-hand corner, on a blue field, representing each State' as it was admitted into the Union. There should be 49 stars in the, flag, set out on a blue field; thirteen red and white stripes. A full-sized flag is 12ft. long and 3ft. wide. ■•(;.'■ AMERICA’S NATIONAL ANTHEM, My country, Mis of thee, Sweet land of Liberty; Of thee I sing Long may our land be bright With freedom’s holy light. Protect us through the night, Great God, our King ! Set -all the hills awake; Let mortal tongues partake Sweet Freedom’s song. I love thy rocks and hills, Thy woods and rippling rills. My heart with rapture thrills, That sounds prolong ! My fathers, God to Thee,, Author of Liberty, To Thee, I sing.
