KILLED AND CREMATED HIMSELF.

Suffering from lumpy jaw, which he contracted while treating cattle, Lemuel H. Jones, veterinary surgeon, of Melrose, Wisconsin, killed and cremated himself on his farm on French Island. He left a note at the side of. the pit explaining the motive for hin act. Jones informed friends he was going to Lacrosse for an operation, but went to the island. There he dug a pit six feet wide and four feet deep. This he filled with alternate layers o* wood and coal and started a Are. At midnight he shot out his brains with a shotgun, toppled over into the pit, and was burned to a crisp.
