CORRESPONDENCE
To the Editor.
Sir, —Last night at about 9 o’clock, the firebell rang out an alarm and the brigade were quickly out and running down the Main Street and round the Town Hall to the alarm at Ormond’s corner, arriving there to find that some miscreant had broken the glass and given the alarm as a “joke.’’ I think it is time our Borough Council took a hand in this matter and offered a substantial reward to anybody giving information wdiereby the “practical Joker” can be severely dealt with. This kind of thing is an all too frequent happening, and some day our brigade will be chary in turning out and who can blame them w T hen so little interest is taken to protect them_ It is no joke to the brigadesmen to travel to the station and then start off with the reel, only to find that at the end of their journey they have been the victims of an individual who has a perverted sense of what lie considers a joke,—l am, etc., SYMPATHISER.
