-A- friend just arrived from Ireland tells me (says a London writer) that midway across the St. George's Channel they passed a raft with two men on it, presumably shipwrecked sailors. The steamer continued its course, much to the astonishment of the passengers, until they were informed that this was an old subterfuge of the Hun submarine commanders, who had bagged many a ship by such means.
