The following circular letter has been addressed by the Commissioner of Taxes to the secretaries of companies: "The question of the assessment of companies wtih a view to a recognition of the interest of the inindividual shareholders 'is now. under consideration, and in order that an estimate may be made of the effect this will have on the revenue I shall be glad if you will supply me with the total amount of the dividend paid out of the assessable income derived during theyear ended on which tax was paid for the year ended March 31, 1918. Please give this matter your earliest attention.”
