A FISHERMAN MISSING.
NELSON, this day.
A fire destroyed the store room of the .Defence Office, yieltelrday and spread to the office of the Adjutant of the Twelfth Regiment. Good work by the brigade prevented any farther damage. The store was fully stocked with clothing iand equipment, and the damage is estimated at several hundreds of pounds. An elderly man, Charles Baker, a fisherman, is missing from French Pass for several days. He left Nelson on the 22nd June to return to D'Urville Island, and has not bejfi seen since, but his launch was found washed up at Okuri point. Baker was a single man and lived alone on a small island off D'Urville Island. He formerly lived in Picton. RETURNED SOLDIERS 'SAD END GISBORNE, this day. Isaac Chadwick Taylor, 35, a returned soldier, who has been' suffering from sevefe shell shock, during the rainstorm last night, got into the Taiuheru River.
