The Government is cutting a canal connecting Lake Avernus with the sea transforming the lake into a vast dry dock. ~ * A WORLD'S RECORD. 3000 GUINEAS OFR A STUD RAM. SYDNEY, July 3. The world's record was reached at the stud sheep sales, when Maurice Collins (South Australia) paid 3000 guineas for the merino stud ram Prince Charlie, which fetched 2000 guineas a few years baclc.
Mr Collins also purchased stud ewes to the extent of 2555 guineas. A Dehiliquin merino ram fetched 410 guineas.
