NEW ZEALAND MEAT.

ADVANCES WITHOUT INTEREST, WELLINGTON. July & Final arrangements for the distribution of three million sterling advanced by the Imperial Government against New Zealand meat in store were announced by the Hon. D. Guthrie. An adjustment, he said, had been made which would be satisfactory to all concerned. We are giving the larger proportion to meat which has been over a year in store, and the balance will be provided pro rata according t* the amount of meat which belongs to the companies or individuals on their own account. It means that we pay an advance' of about 45 per cent on the value of the meat in store,, leaving the remainder to be paid upon shipment.

A question to the Minister elicited the important fact that the advancesdo not bear interest, which is a great concession compared with normal ditions when the producers finance their shipments,' not, of course, such long periods, through banks, pay. ing current rates of interest.
