"Under legislation of the United Parliament the mining group known as the Goerz Company, has purchased from the Custodian of Enemy Property, 347,803 shares belonging to enemy subjects under a scheme approved by the Imperial Company, and is now ofthe same to Allied and neutral shareholders. The Goerz group transactions involves a quarter of a million.

Hertzog addressed a great meeting of between three and four thousand at Pretoria. He declared he was a Rejpublication in theory and practice and ridiculed the talk of unrest in the bad: veld. He exhorted his hearers not to use violence, which will put bad: the Nationalist cause perhaps forever.
