If there is a reasonable amount of economy in the use of petrol, the supplies in store and on the way seem toi bo sufficient for the Dominion's needs* However, there have been so many scares, and some periods of real shortage,' that the Government has seriously taken the matter in hand, and has 1 evolved a method which the principal distributing companies will approve. It will also have the effect of steadying prices. In the course of a week regulations are to be gazetted providing a scheme of petrol distribution, giving preference to essential industries. The importations are to be under the control of the Minister of Munitions and Supplies, and the local distribution will be controlled by the Board of Trade. Apparently there will be petrol *for nearly .all users, within reasonable limitations.
