J. T. Davey.—We do not think any good will result from publishing your letter relative to the case therein discussed. Your strictures on the father are perfectly justified, but owing t» the present constitution of human society the "Sin con.-mitted by two is usually paid for by one—the woman." It is fiendishly unjust, but it is so, and probably will remain so until women get a greater share in "the management of a w d they are expected to populate. Your speculations as to the potentiality of a woman with one child are interesting. You say the increase resulting therefrom in ten generations should amount to 111,187 souls. We doubt if any of our readers are suffi-
ciently interested in the matter to* challenge your statement. Your second letter on the question of the price r: bread should be addressed to the President of the Board of Trade. After a superficial perusal of your letter it strikes us you have made out a good case. But if you think any good will result from the isolated action of an individual, however convincing his figures may he, you have more faith in the Board of Trade and similar bodies than we have w
