The Berliner Tageblatt says a new war loan of fifteen milliards is expected, making the German war debt 139 milliards. Dr. Muller, Minister of Food, has informed the Reichstag Food Committee that it is impossible to increase the meat ration. It was even necessary to lower it or introduce meatless* weeks throughout Germany. A SUPPRESSED .GERMAN MANIFESTO. PROTESTING AGAINST ..PRO- ’ LONGING THE WAR. Received 8.50 a.m. 1 : PARIS, June 24. ■ : “ Humanite ” publishes a suppressed manifesto issued by the German Independent Socialists, vigorously protesting against • the- prolongation of the war. It declares the peace imposed in the East by the German sword had provoked intense rancour and danger, 'and the German forces would soon have to enter a fresh struggle for the domination of the world. AIR LOSSES COMPARED. GERMANS FARE BADLY, WASHINGTON, Juno 23. Advices from France say there is no truth in the German report that in May 413 aeroplanes and 27 AngloFrench captive balloons were brought down as against 185 German machines and 28 balloons The fact is that French aviators brought down 196 German machines, and 160 were put out of action, while 35 balloons were destroyed, in addition to thirtyeight German machines destroyed by anti-aircraft guns. . The French lost sixty machines, twelve were put out of action,, ; and eight balloons .were destroyed.

ITALIAN TROOPS IN FRANCE. It was announced on April 19 that Italian troops would shortly take part in the battles on the West front. According to a message sent through the Italian wireless stations, the Prime Minister, Signor Orlando, made a declaration in the Chamber of Deputies, stating that the lulliah Army was the right wing of a unted army, that Italian regiments would shortly participate in the French battle. The declaration was received with the greatest enthusiasm. The Socialist deputies joined in the Prime Minister’s greetings to the French, English, and American Armies. The Italiali army and the people received the newswith the greatest satisfaction, and were proud to thank that the Italians were to have the apportunity of proving their valour alongside of French, English, and American troops. It Is also considered that such unity in the military operations will resolve itself into the greatest possible political and moral unity between the four great nations during the war.- Many officers ..and soldiers asked to be in the regiments to be sent to France.
