AMERICANS FOR ITALY.
Captain La Guardia, who represents New York City in Congress and is also a captain in the American Aviation Service, has been received byKing Victor Emmanuel at the Italian front. He was much impressed by the intimate knowledge of America displayed by the Sovereign. The King, in expressing a desire to see the Americans on the Italian front, said: "So many of our soldiers" have lived in America that the American boys with their Stars and Stripes will be thrice welcome at their side." King Victor tliought that the presence of Americans on the Italian front would be useful also In order tangibly to contradict enemy propagandist assertions declaring that American soldiers were being prevented from reaching Europe by the submarines, assertions the obirct of which was to hide from, the Austrians the fact that the Americans are doing splendid work in France. King Emmanuel said he was a happy tc see even a small number of Americans among his* /forces, a-s after the first detachment had reached America would surely send more.
